Dramatic Smokey Eye

I love a dramatic smokey eye once in a while when I'm going out. I usually go for a more subtle smokey eye when I go out and during the day I don't wear a lot of eye make up in general. Sometimes it's nice to try a different look and really go all out. This is emphasized by a dramatic smokey eye. It's very easy to do!

Cover the lash and lid with a very shiny or sparkly silver color. If you have troubles with keeping eye shadow on, I recommend coating your lids first with a liquid concealer. I don't know what it is about the concealer, but it keeps eye shadow on so much longer! Take a black eye shadow next and coat the outer eyelid. Use a brush to blend it in well. Add mascara next. If you are wanting a more dramatic look, add some fake eyelashes.

Hot Trends This Prom Season

Prom is just around the corner. With the new fashions of the season, I'm here to share some of the hottest trends that you'll be seeing for Prom 2013. Check out these fashionable hair, make up, and dress trends. What will you be rocking this year?

1. Lace. It's a vintage inspiration and it's hot right now. You can stray away from the traditional ivory or white lace and get unique with a ton of different color options.

2. A messy up do. This year, it'll be less about a prim and styled up do and more about a natural, "thrown-together" look.

3. Asymmetrical neckline. This changing things up and is just unique enough to turn heads. I love pairing bright lipstick with a white dress. It really makes the lips pop!
4. Winged eyeliner. This is a bold look that creates a shape showing off full lashes and big bright eyes.

5. Red lips. If you don't have red lipstick, get it now! This trend is HOT and won't be going anywhere for quite a while.

6. Ombre. You've seen it building as a trend in hair coloring, and it can be done with natural-looking colors or fun, bright colors. Now it's spreading to formal wear and I love it!

What are you favorite kinds of prom dresses? What about hair styles, accessories, and make up?

Use a Primer to Keep Your Foundation on All Day Long

One of the most important things to remember about foundation application is not in the actual foundation itself. Are you surprised? I sure was when I first heard this. And then I tested out this theory because I was quite surprised and shocked, and I'll admit that I didn't believe it at first.

I tried this fix and perfect primer by Rimmel at first because it's inexpensive--I got it for less than $8 at Ulta! I didn't want to try something from a department store until I knew that I liked using primer. I tried this for one week and I couldn't believe the difference as to how my face looked after a day of work, errands, and more! It even lasted all night when we went out for drinks last weekend. I love that when I use this, it looks like my foundation is fresh all night long. I topped the primer with Clinique Perfectly Real Makeup, which is the foundation that I usually use. Give the primer a try and see what you think--if you don't like it, what do you have to lose?

A Sexy Sparkle Eye for New Year's Eve

I don't know about you, but when I tried to do a "sparkle" eye in the past, I looked like a four year old who just played in her mother's make up. It was horrible and all over the place. Determined to master this look for fun occasions and nights out, I have learned a lot in the past year and am going to share what I found!

If you are just starting out with this look, I recommend a sparkle eye shadow with a more natural tone to it. Bobbi Brown has some great colors available, and my favorite is "cement". Start by covering your eye with a liquid concealer that matches your skin tone. This helps the eye shadow to stick on the eye better and prevents it from coming off onto the rest of your face, making it look like you belong in a Disney musical.

Next, cover the eyelid and a little above it onto the brow bone (but NOT too far up! See picture above). Then, take a dark brown if using a cream sparkle eye shadow and shade the crease and outer corner of the eye. After applying eyeliner, you can add a touch of sparkle shadow under it on the lower eyelid. Have fun with this and get creative!

Erase Paste Covers Under Eye Circles

I am so busy some days that I don't know how I haven't left the house with mismatched shoes yet. I am so rushed in the mornings, and really all of the time. I'm lucky if I get a full night of sleep!

I'm so glad I've found Erase Paste. This truly is a magical concealer and it hides everything! It's super easy to blend and it camouflages just about anything. I am able to cover under-eye-circles, pimples, and more. There are three different shades to choose from (light, dark and medium).

This concealer lasts a long time (a little bit goes a long way). Follow the link and check this amazing concealer out for yourself. Comment on this post with reviews of your own!

Beautiful 3-D Lip Effect

I found this fantastic lip effect that instantly draws eyes into your beautiful and full lips and makes them look plumper and fuller. This is an effect that SO many people try to achieve. It's easy to do and looks fantastic.

All you need is some highlighting powder (a light, slightly shimmery eye shadow works great). Whatever you use, make sure that it is lighter than the color of the lipstick! You will also need your favorite lip color. Apply the lip color all over to the lips (both top and bottom). For a little more precision you can use a lip pen, but a traditional lipstick works great too. Dip your finger into the highlighting powder and dab it directly in the center of each of your top and bottom lips. Remember, JUST in the middle, not all over! This literally makes the lips look like they are "popping". You will get that beautiful plump look that SO many women try to achieve.
