Dramatic Smokey Eye

I love a dramatic smokey eye once in a while when I'm going out. I usually go for a more subtle smokey eye when I go out and during the day I don't wear a lot of eye make up in general. Sometimes it's nice to try a different look and really go all out. This is emphasized by a dramatic smokey eye. It's very easy to do!

Cover the lash and lid with a very shiny or sparkly silver color. If you have troubles with keeping eye shadow on, I recommend coating your lids first with a liquid concealer. I don't know what it is about the concealer, but it keeps eye shadow on so much longer! Take a black eye shadow next and coat the outer eyelid. Use a brush to blend it in well. Add mascara next. If you are wanting a more dramatic look, add some fake eyelashes.

Fantastic Color Guide to Eyes

Eye-color-chart coordinating liner/shadow

I am always looking for fun, new ways to do my make up, especially my eyes. I feel like eye make up is a lot easier to change up and experiment with than make up for your face (such as foundation--you don't really want to do a bunch of different colors in that, it will look fake). I tend to do lighter colors for my eyes during the day and darker, more fun colors in the evenings when I go out.

I have big, green eyes and I love them. I want them to stand out as much as possible, as they are my best feature. I found this great visual aid in assisting people in selecting their eye make up color based on their eye color. It's a chart that's easy to use. Write down the colors that best match your eyes and take it in next time you go shopping. You can make tons of different combos out of the colors in the chart under your eye color! Let me know what you think of the end result, I'd love to hear!

Gold Eye Make Up

One of the top trends of summer for eye make up is gold. It's a natural-toned color that makes a great eye make up color. You can do all sorts of fun things with it and it's easy to transform a day look to a night look. The picture shown above makes a great night look.

For a day look: prep eyes with a liquid concealer. This helps to keep the make up on longer and prevent it from wearing off. Apply the eye shadow next. It's best to get a three-tone set because the colors are all coordinated. I like this trio from Sephora a lot. The lightest color is the base. The next color goes in the crease, and the darkest color goes in the outside corner. After, follow with eyeliner (a light brown looks best with gold colors) and some mascara.

For a night look: prep eyes with a liquid concealer. You can use the same technique but can add a darker color to the outside corner. I like black with gold for a night look and like to follow with black eyeliner and black mascara. If you're looking for another trio, this one by Mineral Fusion works great!
