Hot Trends This Prom Season

Prom is just around the corner. With the new fashions of the season, I'm here to share some of the hottest trends that you'll be seeing for Prom 2013. Check out these fashionable hair, make up, and dress trends. What will you be rocking this year?

1. Lace. It's a vintage inspiration and it's hot right now. You can stray away from the traditional ivory or white lace and get unique with a ton of different color options.

2. A messy up do. This year, it'll be less about a prim and styled up do and more about a natural, "thrown-together" look.

3. Asymmetrical neckline. This changing things up and is just unique enough to turn heads. I love pairing bright lipstick with a white dress. It really makes the lips pop!
4. Winged eyeliner. This is a bold look that creates a shape showing off full lashes and big bright eyes.

5. Red lips. If you don't have red lipstick, get it now! This trend is HOT and won't be going anywhere for quite a while.

6. Ombre. You've seen it building as a trend in hair coloring, and it can be done with natural-looking colors or fun, bright colors. Now it's spreading to formal wear and I love it!

What are you favorite kinds of prom dresses? What about hair styles, accessories, and make up?

I Made My Own Scarf...And You Can, Too!

Some of the best accessories are the ones that are UNIQUE, CHEAP, and HOMEMADE! I came across this wonderful find on Pinterest several months ago, and finally got around to making it! Now that I know just how little time it took to do, I really am kicking myself for negating it for so long. Hey, what can I say... I'm a busy woman!

To start out this adorable, easy-to-make, infinity fringe scarf, you need a plain t-shirt. I got mine from Hobby Lobby. This week, they are having a sale on t-shirts. I got size 3X so that it was big enough to wrap around my neck twice. If you only want it to go around once, then I would suggest a small or medium!

Lay the t-shirt out flat. Then make two cuts: one across the top, right underneath the "armpits" of the shirt and the second right above the stitching that makes the seam at the bottom of the shirt.

Please excuse my kitchen scissors...I happened to be in the kitchen and was feeling much too lazy to go upstairs and get my craft scissors. ;)

After you make the two cuts, start cutting slices into the shirt on both of the "open" sides, aka the "long" sides of the fabric. You can make these as skinny or thick as you want!

After you are done cutting the strips, start pulling the strips to stretch them out. Can you tell a difference? I stretched the left side, and when I took this picture, the right side had yet to be stretched. After that, you're done!

If you are wearing a neutral colored outfit, than you will want to choose something bright and colorful, like pictured above. Choose a long necklace to elongate your neckline, creating a long lean slender look. If you are looking for an elegant look go for just one classic piece of jewelry.

As quoted on Oprah "When shopping for earrings, you should always consider the shape of your face: Pendants look best when your face is a round or square. Studs, buttons and short drop earrings offset a long or oval face. Hoops are always a good choice." Find great Mariana Jewelry pieces today and start adding to your jewelry collection.

A Massage Relaxes my Body and Mind

As most of you know, I'm all about skin care, beauty, and taking care of myself. This is evident in the several blog postings I write about DIY beauty products that can be made at home. Almost everything that is bought in the store when it comes to skin care can be made at home for cheaper AND with a lot healthier ingredients.

There are of course, as with everything, a few exceptions. One of these is massage. This is something that I go and get done about every other week. Getting a regular massage is one of the best things that I can do for my body AND my mind, believe it or not! I feel so relaxed after I get a massage at my go-to day spa in Orange County. I can feel relaxation take over my mind and body. I am less tense, less stressed, and have so much more energy when I keep up with a regular massage schedule. It decreases the toxins in my body and helps to alleviate stress.

Homemade Eye Cream

As most of you know, I'm all about using homemade and natural products. I've learned more than I wanted to about some ingredients that they put in creams and products that they sell in stores.

You need only TWO ingredients to make this fantastic eye cream and you will see so many benefits to it! It's also a lot less expensive than the creams available in the stores. Plus, you know what is in it!

Vitamin E is an essential part of skin care. It is an antioxidant (it protects the skin from UV light, pollution, drugs, and other free radicals that damage skin cells). It also plays a role in anti-aging by reducing the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles. Vitamine E also reduces stretch marks and age spots. It's practically magical!

Find a small jar (about an ounce). Fill it with coconut oil and warm it in the microwave for a couple of seconds until it is liquid. Take three vitamin E capsules and poke a hole in them to release the liquid in them and pour into the melted coconut oil. Use a toothpick to stir the mixture together and place into the refrigerator until it is solid again!
