I Made My Own Scarf...And You Can, Too!

Some of the best accessories are the ones that are UNIQUE, CHEAP, and HOMEMADE! I came across this wonderful find on Pinterest several months ago, and finally got around to making it! Now that I know just how little time it took to do, I really am kicking myself for negating it for so long. Hey, what can I say... I'm a busy woman!

To start out this adorable, easy-to-make, infinity fringe scarf, you need a plain t-shirt. I got mine from Hobby Lobby. This week, they are having a sale on t-shirts. I got size 3X so that it was big enough to wrap around my neck twice. If you only want it to go around once, then I would suggest a small or medium!

Lay the t-shirt out flat. Then make two cuts: one across the top, right underneath the "armpits" of the shirt and the second right above the stitching that makes the seam at the bottom of the shirt.

Please excuse my kitchen scissors...I happened to be in the kitchen and was feeling much too lazy to go upstairs and get my craft scissors. ;)

After you make the two cuts, start cutting slices into the shirt on both of the "open" sides, aka the "long" sides of the fabric. You can make these as skinny or thick as you want!

After you are done cutting the strips, start pulling the strips to stretch them out. Can you tell a difference? I stretched the left side, and when I took this picture, the right side had yet to be stretched. After that, you're done!

Fun Ways to Wear Your Scarf

Scarves are one of my favorite accessories. I love how they can change an outfit and add so much "pop" to an ordinary outfit. I love that I can load up on the inexpensive, plain, colored shirts and make the same shirt look completely different with a scarf.

Scarves are also easy to use for seasonal dressing. In the summer, I wear lightweight scarves that have colors that are bright and fun, such as green, yellow, pink, purple, etc. In the fall, I wear rust tone, deep reds, dark golden yellows, burnt orange, etc. In the winter, the scarves get a little bit heavier and I lean more towards creams, blacks, and deep grays. It's amazing on how diverse scarves can get!

I was looking around on Pinterest today and found this amazing picture that shows some of the many different ways to wear a scarf. Try some of these out next time you want to sport a scarf, or come up with some of your own and share them on here! I can't wait to see!

Pretty Preppy Fall Outfit

I am LOVING the change of weather and seasons that is going on. Fall is my all-time favorite season of the year and there is NOTHING about Fall that I don't like! I love the change in clothing, activities, and colors. With Fall comes putting away flip flops and shorts and taking out leggings, boots, and sweaters. It's also time to bring out the crock pot and put away the grill in the garage until Spring.

I feel like Western boots are making a huge mark in the fashion happenings of Fall 2012. I have a couple of pairs of Western boots and I love them! I was thinking the other day...what if you aren't into that look? So many fashion websites and magazines are showing the Western look. What if that's not your style? I found this pretty preppy Fall look and thought I would share! Pair a blazer with a warm scarf. To keep your hair out of the way, a high bun is easy to do in your hair and looks very chic.

This Scarf Is The Perfect Accessory

I love wearing scarfs. They make the perfect accessory and addition to any outfit. I wear them in every season of the year. In the winter, I have warmer, thicker scarves and during the summer I wear lighter, thinner scarves. I have all different colors and patterns that I love!

I came across this scarf on one of my favorite websites, Etsy. I love this site because I can buy things that are homemade and unique instead of mass manufactured and a clone of everything else I see people wearing all of the time. People really take time to make the goods they sell on Etsy and I appreciate the effort they put into the beautiful things they create.

This is a beautiful scarf that I can't wait to order. I love the color and pattern. If you know me, you know that I love everything pink! The zebra pattern is fun and trendy. I would rock this with some dark jeans, a black tee, and some cute pink heels.
